                  WHAT IS AWANA?
Awana is our Wednesday night program for children and youth.  It focuses on scripture memorization and uses missions, stories and game time to teach children about Christ and the gospel message.

AWANA is an acronym as taken from II Tim 2:15 -  Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.

Come join us!  To see pictures from Awanas 2008-2009, visit our Galleries page.  For more information about the Awana program, visit their website: www.awana.org

This year, we are starting something new to get the children and parents more involved with Awanas.  The children will receive Awana points for attending and participating in Awanas each night.  They will save these points each week, so that they will be able to spend them at our new Awana Store.  The store "merchandise" will be mostly gently used items.

The Awana Store is the place where the children get to spend their Awana bucks they have earned.  The Awana bucks will be handed out on the night of the Awana store.  The bucks will be awarded for the points that the child has earned. There will be 4 Store Nights during the Awana year. The second Store Night is the Christmas Store with free gift wrapping. The last Store Night is on the last regular meeting of the year.

Guidelines for Store:  Today's children are bombarded with many non-Christian heroes and values.  While many of these are not inherently bad, Awana only wants to promote Godly values, good role models, and positive heroes.  Therefore, the following will NOT be knowingly carried in the Awana store:  Halloween (ghosts, vampires, or gory items) or Santa Claus items, items that can be considered ungodly or can have the appearance of evil, or items that represent characters of crude humor.

Earning Awana Bucks:

Each 5pts. earned = 1 Awana Buck.

Awana Bucks are given for:

-Attendance (must be in classroom on time)

-Paying dues

-Wearing uniform

-Bringing Bible

-Having sections completed in Awana book

Bonus pts. are given for:

-Participating in theme nights

-Bringing a visitor

Thank you to everyone who will be involved in getting our children excited about the things of the Lord!  We’re excited for a new AWANA year!

We would appreciate any 'gently' used items you may have at home for our new Awana store.  The items need to look 'nearly' new and must follow the Awana guidelines mentioned under the 'Awana Store' section to the left.

Also, if you are aware of any patrons in the community who would like to donate gift certificates, items from their establishment, monetary gifts, etc., these would be greatly appreciated.  Any questions, please see Bethany Baker.
